Home A Day at Kindy

From morning hellos to home-time hugs.

Children thrive on a predictable rhythm: the comfort of knowing what comes next, with generous space for curiosity and surprise. Sessions run 8:30am–2:30pm on kindy days during Queensland school terms.

The daily rhythm, hour by hour.

  1. 8:30

    Arrival & morning hellos

Children find their name, put away their bag and settle into an activity they choose. Warm, unhurried goodbyes help the day begin calmly.

  2. 9:00

    Morning gathering

Songs, news, weather and the plan for the day bring everyone together. Each child is welcomed and every voice has room to be heard.

  3. 9:30

    Indoor & outdoor play

The biggest stretch of the morning is for building, creating, digging, pretending and moving between the indoor studio and outdoor classroom.

  4. 10:30

    Morning tea

A shared pause for food and conversation. Children practise pouring, passing, listening and describing their world.

  5. 11:00

    Projects & small groups

Focused teacher time extends the week's project through experiments, storytelling, games and rich language.

  6. 12:00

    Lunch together

Eating side by side builds independence, manners, confidence and the courage to try one bite of something new.

  7. 12:45

    Rest & quiet time

Lights soften and bodies recharge. Some children sleep; others rest with books, drawing or puzzles.

  8. 1:30

    Afternoon play & stories

The gentler second act brings outdoor play, dramatic play, drawing and, always, stories.

  9. 2:30

    Home time

Hats on, artwork gathered and news shared at the gate. Children leave knowing what to expect when they return.

Come see a day in person

Reading about it is nice. Visiting is better.

Bring your child, meet the teacher and ask every question your family needs answered before choosing a kindy.
